Menu Choices for Summer Menu

Laurel Avenue Community Primary School decided to take up the meal choice option quite a number of years ago. This was so every child could be guaranteed to receive a meal that they like and not be left with a choice that they did not want to eat. It takes a considerable amount of time to collate all the choices and let kitchen staff and school staff know which option every child is having every day. Every time a change is made to the original meal choice it is quite a task, ensuring all the record sheets are updated and given to the correct members of staff. The correct amount of food is ordered a number of weeks in advance based on the choices made so it makes it difficult for kitchen staff to know exactly what to order when changes are being made often.

As a result, we are asking for your help to make sure that no unnecessary changes need to be made for this Summer Menu. This menu will start from after the Easter holidays until half way through Autumn Term. We understand that it is very important that your child receives a meal they enjoy every day and so we are happy to discuss any issues you have with the menu before the 15th March and hopefully resolve any potential problems before all the final choices have been made and collated.

Please choose each meal carefully with your child to ensure that it is a meal choice they know they like and would want to eat every three weeks. E.g. your child might love the macaroni cheese you make at home but they might not like the way it is cooked in school and so would not choose that for themselves.

If you are not sure what a certain meal is, please get in touch with the office before selecting it or select a different meal for that day.

If your child does not like the jacket potato or sandwich option which is written on the menu, please do not select that choice as it cannot be guaranteed that there will always be an alternative option that your child likes.

If there is not a choice that your child likes on any particular day, please let the office know before half term so that we can discuss this before the choices are collated.

NEW THIS TERM: If your child would like to take part in Fish Friday every week, they can choose to bring packed lunch from Monday to Thursday and order a school dinner every Friday. Please circle the Friday fish option on the menu if you would like your child to have this. Please note that they will need to commit to every Friday and will not be able to change from week to week. 

All Infant children are eligible for free school meals. If you pay for your meals, the Fish Friday meal would be £2.05. Please send to school in a named envelope. 

We also ask that two weeks’ notice is given for changing from dinner to packed lunch so please choose carefully.

Please return to school by Friday 15th March.
